?Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign up and sign in to DogGather?
The App offers three options: email verification code, email with password, and one-tap Sign in with Apple. Open the App and follow the on-screen prompts. On your first sign-in you will need to set up your dog's profile (photo, breed, age, weight) before you can reach the main screen.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
On the sign-in page, tap "Forgot password", enter your registered email address and complete the email verification to reset it. If you don't receive the email, please check your spam folder. Accounts created with Sign in with Apple do not use a password.
Why does the App need my location?
Location is used to show nearby dog-walking spots and groups on the map, to calculate their distance from you, and to record a one-time attendance snapshot when you actively tap "I'm here" to check in. The App only obtains your location while you are using it in the foreground, does not track or record your movements in the background, and does not share your live location with other users. You can turn access off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
How do I add a spot to the map?
On the map page, long-press or tap a location that has no spot yet. Fill in the title, description and images, choose whether the place is dog-friendly, and submit. Submissions go through moderation and appear on the map once approved.
How long does content moderation take?
Posts, spots and groups you publish enter an automated review process, which usually completes within a few minutes. If your content is escalated to human review it will take a little longer. You will be notified of the result, and if it is not approved the reason will be explained. You can see pending and rejected items under My Submissions in your profile.
How do I post or join a dog-walking group?
On the map page, tap the "Post a group" button in the bottom-right corner, pick the meeting point on the map, and fill in the group name, description and start/end times (one hour by default). To join someone else's group, tap its marker on the map to open the details, then use "Join", "I'm here" or "Can't make it".
Will checking in reveal my live location?
No. A check-in records only a single point-in-time snapshot from the moment you tap "I'm here", so the group organiser can confirm attendance. It is not updated in real time and other users cannot see it continuously.
How do I report inappropriate content or a user?
On a post detail page, a comment, a spot detail page or a group detail page, tap the "Report" button and choose a reason. On another user's profile page, tap "Report" and describe the issue in your own words. We review and respond within 24 hours and keep reporters' information strictly confidential.
How do I block someone?
Open their profile page and tap "Block". Blocking is mutual: neither of you will see the other's content or interactions. You can unblock at any time under Settings → Block List in your profile.
How do I delete my account?
Once signed in, go to Settings → Delete Account and confirm. After deletion your email address, profile, dog information, published spots, groups, posts and comments, and your check-in records are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered, so please proceed carefully.
I'm not receiving notifications. What should I check?
Please check that: 1) notifications are allowed for DogGather in iOS Settings → Notifications; 2) the relevant switches are on under Settings → Notifications in the App; and 3) your device is not in Focus mode or Low Power Mode. If the problem persists, please contact us by email.
The App crashes or a feature isn't working. What should I do?
Please try: 1) making sure the App is updated to the latest version; 2) restarting the App or your device; and 3) checking your network connection. If the problem persists, email us with your device model, system version and a screenshot of the issue.
Which iOS versions are supported?
DogGather supports iOS 17.0 and later. We recommend updating to the latest version of iOS for the best experience.
